Hello & Welcome to Garden Inspirations!

My roots in gardening started when I was a young child.  I grew up in rural Oklahoma on a cotton farm.  My love for flowers and
gardening has been instilled in me ever since.  Even as a young school child I could tell you were the birds built their nests, where
the prettiest patches of wildflowers were, and how to chop cotton!

I grew up with wonderful gardening mentors and it has expanded since I have moved to Texas.  Some of my memorable mentors
have been - Mildred & Leonard Jarvill, my Grandmother Jameson, Rena Simmons, Mattie Smith, Vivian and Junior Pritchett, and
Carol Brown.

I moved to Texas from Oklahoma  about 12 years ago with my husband and two lovely daughters.  We once again live on acreage
and I am delighted to spend my time making beautiful gardens in the backyard.   My home is tucked away among native Texas
trees and backs up near a creek.

Many friends and neighbors stop by when I am working in the gardens and I hope that it is an inspiration to them as it was for me
to watch my mentors garden.  I want to spread happiness through beautiful flowers.  As my friend Mattie Smith always said,
"Gardening is good for you, if you are not feeling well - get out and DIG IN THE DIRT!"  I feel this is a good piece of gardening
wisdom, that I hope I've passed to many along the way.

My love & passions lie in my gardens and bringing them together with my own business has been a dream come true for me.

I hope you enjoy our little place on the world wide web.  Stop by and visit our booth on Saturdays and feel free to ask us about
gardening, we'll do our best to help you out as much as we can!

Happy Gardening,
Marilyn

Gardens and gardening have been an important part of my life since I was a child...so that is a long time!

At age 3 or 4, I remember helping pick up potatoes after they were dug and getting the concept, "Food comes from the garden", I
remember gladiolus and other flowers blooming in my Aunt Lee's garden.  A beginning understanding of the Gardens of Eden
and Gethsemane was at 12.  In my 30's I had the pleasure, with my Mom, of a small garden at our back door.  Almost anything will
grow in Kentucky even on a postage size plot.  In 1977 our family of 3 adults and 2 children moved to North Central Texas.  Still,
with some work, we had a vegetable garden but very few flowers.  Then there was a long lull in my gardening of any sort of dirt.
Church and Girl Scouts took up several years.  It wasn't until about 3 years ago that I got a renewed interest in gardening thanks in
large part to Marilyn.  She invited me to attend one of Lucy Harrell's springtime classes and then I was off and (I would say
running
but those who know me would probably laugh!) and digging.  We will eventually share pictures with you of the Butterfly Garden
that went from 4ft x 25 ft to about 6 ft x 100ft. Ahhh...how garden do grow.

Visit us often and enjoy!!

Howdy, from good ol' Texas!!
I am one of the "lovely" daughters of our great gardening expert, Marilyn.  It is because of my mother, always digging in the dirt,
that I have a fondness for beautiful flowers.  Flowers are just a part of my life, they always have been.  Even though I did not inherit
the "green thumb" gene from my mother - I still love all aspects of gardening.  I find it so interesting that you can compare a lot of
obstacles in life to gardening.  Wisdom must come from spending so much time playing in the dirt!

My role in Garden Inspirations is slightly different.  I have had a rather surprising opportunity to travel abroad.  The experiences of
being overseas and drowning myself in so many cultures has been life-changing.  I take my camera and journal everywhere I go
and snap photos and log my thoughts along the way.  I am sharing so much of this with you, and i hope you can enjoy my
experiences as well.

I hope you enjoy our website.  We are at the Downtown Farmer's Market on Saturdays - stop by and see us!  Stop back by our
website - we'll update it often - seasons change - flowers grow  and flowers go!

Look forward to sharing gardening fun with you!

Home Grown Beauties!
- where our cut flowers & herbs are grown from seed!
We have dug in and developed this website in much
the same way we would plan to plant a new flower
bed....we dreamed about it, we researched the
possibilities, located our site, and put our plans into
action!
The harvest we are anticipating are perennial friends.
We hope to dream with you, sip herb tea with you, and
have stimulating garden conversations with you over
our garden gate.
